Hoist the Sails – Cyber Like a Viking is Live!

After years of talking about it (and a few polite nudges from my wife), I finally made it happen—the official Cyber Viking website is here. My wife once asked, “How can you be The Cyber Viking without a website?” And she was right. So, I carved out the time, fired up my creative engines, and set sail into the digital seas.

For those who haven’t clicked the About Me button yet, here’s the short version of who I am:

Fredrick “The Cyber Viking” Hall—born in Baltimore, raised in technology. My career began in the U.S. Army as an Information Systems Operator, laying the foundation for decades of work in IT. I’ve worn many hats: helpdesk technician, system administrator, firewall engineer, network defense operator, and now, a civil servant supporting the United States Air Force.

Beyond the day job, I’m a passionate cyber educator. I coach multiple CyberPatriot teams, serve as a Boy Scouts of America merit badge counselor, and mentor students through programs like DoD STARBASE. My mission is simple: train and inspire the next generation of cyber defenders. Along the way, I’ve spoken at conferences, taught at camps, served on the Texas CS Task Force, and even co-authored a chapter in a book encouraging young women to explore STEM and cybersecurity careers.

Through CyberTexas Foundation, I support coaches, mentors, and CyberPatriot teams across the region. My work has earned recognition from U.S. Representatives Will Hurd and Tony Gonzales, but my greatest reward is watching students I’ve mentored succeed.
